Lacrifill® Treatment for Dry Eye

What is Lacrifill®?

  • Lacrifill® is a canalicular gel made from cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
  • It fills (occludes) the lower tear drainage channel (the canaliculus) to slow down tear drainage, allowing natural tears to remain on the eye longer.
  • It acts like a “liquid plug,” designed to enhance your eye’s natural moisture rather than relying solely on artificial tears.

How Lacrifill® works

  • After applying a numbing drop, Lacrifill® gel is gently injected into the lower punctum using a precision applicator / cannula under magnification.
  • The gel fills the canaliculus, conforming to its walls, and stays in place for up to six months, gradually resorbing.

Because it’s cross-linked, the gel is formulated to balance firmness and comfort, adapting to the anatomy of each patient.

Benefits of Lacrifill®

    • Comfortable and easy — The procedure is quick, done in-office, and most patients feel minimal discomfort.
    • Good tolerability — Even patients with sensitive eyes tend to tolerate Lacrifill® well; few side effects and often only mild irritation.
